In 1976 Miyata joined Tatsunoko Productionhttps://anilist.co/studio/103/ and was assigned to the planning and literature department. Three years later he moved to being a producer. After having left Tatsunoko he joined Kitty Filmhttps://anilist.co/studio/99/ for some time before founding J.C. Staff in 1986.
After producing numerous works for J.C. Staff in the late 80s and throughout the 90s he shifted his focus to a more managerial position in 2000 a position which he still holds to this day while serving as the studios representative director.
