Akira Mochizuki is a Japanese mangaka. He debuted as a rental book manga artist with his work Soumei Kassatsuken in 1957. After the bankruptcy of Hinomaru Bunko he returned home for some time but then moved to Tokyo. He worked many shoujo manga such as Hanatsumi Nikki haha Yamabiko Shimai Sumire and Hana no Kanmuri at Tokyo Manga Publishing Co. Ltd. Later on he worked on many famous titles for both Shoujo Friend and Weekly Shounen Champion.
