In 1999 she received the Kodansha Manga Award for shjo for Peach Girl. She worked for some time with Sailor Moon author Naoko Takeuchi. She started publishing her works in 1985.
Miwa Ueda partially based the main character of Peach Girl Momo on herself. As a student in junior high school she was constantly embarrassed because she tanned very easily. She is also the creator of Angel Wars Oh My Darling and Glass Hearts.
