BePapas was collective pseudonym for creating original works. The membership consisted of director Kunihiko Ikuharahttps://anilist.co/staff/100082/ scriptwriter Youji Enokidohttps://anilist.co/staff/100062/ animator and character designer Shinya Hasegawahttps://anilist.co/staff/106529/ planner Yuuichirou Ogurohttps://anilist.co/staff/195642/ and mangaka Chiho Saitouhttps://anilist.co/staff/97459/. The group was intended to allow the animation production staff who were previously rarely recognized as authors to stand out in the shoes of original creators. They group disbanded following the release of Adolescence of Utenahttps://anilist.co/anime/441/. Though Ikuhara and Saitou later collaborated on the 2001 manga series The World Exists for Mehttps://anilist.co/manga/30505/ the authorship of which was credited to Saitou and BePapas. Animator Norimitsu Suzukihttps://anilist.co/staff/104133/ has also said to have been involved to an unknown extent.
