Around the age of 6 or 7 I watched, at least to what I remember, to be the first anime I ever saw which was Pokemon. I continued onto other anime that was on tv like Tenchi Muyo, Zoids, and Digimon and around this time was when I learned what anime was. Most of what I watched was what aired on Kids WB or Fox Kids until we got Cable which led to me watching what Toonami aired. This led to me watching stuff that came on Adult swim like Blood+, Death Note, Code Geass, and Drrr but never really ventured out into other anime until about 4-5 years ago. And now here we are.
I didn’t get much into music until the 7th grade outside of various anime OP’s and a few alternative bands my mom liked a lot. I joined concert band in the 5th grade where I played percussion and boy was I awful. I didn’t improve much until sophomore year of high school which is also when I feel my current likes and dislikes really started to cement and also when I started to date the person who became my wife. It’s when I stop being so bashful and learned to be much more upfront and outgoing and its worked well for me. Around the same time I started to like prog and metal music starting with bands like Rush, Iron Maiden, and Hammerfall. As I got into university I started to attend concerts, which I have continued to do even post Uni and I find fewer things better than going to a concert with friends.
I was very big into reading since I was young, when I joined public school in 3rd grade I would often go to the library every day to get another book or two. I read a ton of stuff like The Hardy Boys, Encyclopedia Brown, Ramona before public school but got into Harry Potter and LotR shortly after. When I got into junior high I started to read a few manga that my library had (like Dragonball, Rave Master, and Rurouni Kenshin) and started into Shonen Jump. As I got into High school I stopped reading nearly as much as I couldn’t find many things that interested me and I joined more and more after school clubs so I lost a lot of free time. I did start to read more and more manga during this time with most of them undocumented as I can’t recall anything but faint details. During university my girlfriend (now wife) got me to start reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchet which got me interested in both of their work which I have found to be amazing. In the past year most of my reading has been made up of physical copies of manga and LN’s that I obtain and the many, many, many Discworld novels.
I have been playing video games since I was probably 5 years old or so when my brother and I started on the original NES and have played most game systems since then. My older brother and I also both started playing ROMs of older games for NES/SNES and games that didn't release in America like the various Dragonball Z games. We couldn't understand a word of what was going on but we still loved them. Around the 4th or 5th grade I started to play online games, with the first being Graal online followed by Conquer online and countless other free games although those 2 were the most played. There was a little electric cafe in my hometown which is where I found a fantastic game called Guild Wars and first played Rise of Nations and Halo. In High school I got into WoW and have played that off and on for years although most of my time was always spent in the raiding scene. I currently mainly play games on my 3DS and computer.
