So 3 weeks ago I made a post https://anilist.co/activity/672326029 about Eldo Yoshimizus work not being on Anilist MAL database despite being classified as a manga. So I got chance to read both Gamma Draconis and Ryuko manga from the public library last week and I can say with definitive evidence that its definitely manga and the fact that its not on Anilist nor MAL database is baffling to me. Heres a strange caveat: How many of you have read the Shotaro Ishinomoris Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past comic first published in 1992 on Nintendo Powerhttps://anilist.co/manga/35939/TheLegendofZeldaALinktothePast/? Heres the shocking fact: That one is a OEL manga and not a true manga. It was published in Nintendo Power in 1992 and originally in English it would later get translated and published in Japanese. When it got translated and published in Japanese they keep the reading orientation left to right as it was in Nintendo Power publication and left the sound effect untranslated. It was even in color and not black white like how manga are supposed to look like today. The Zelda comic from Ishinomori that was published on Nintendo Power has now been reclassified as a OEL manga by todays standard. Let me quote this Zelda Fandom Wiki entry: Although often considered to be a manga the comic was originally published in English in America by Nintendo Power. By modern day standards it can be considered to be an original Englishlanguage manga although that term did not exist when the comic was originally published. A Japanese edition was later released retaining the lefttoright formatting of the original American edition. In the Japanese edition the text is oriented horizontally in a lefttoright format as well and the original sound effects are left untranslated. But the fact that both Anilist and MAL has allowed this OEL manga to be on the database and all 3 of Eldo Yoshimizus work to not be on the database is just bizarre and unacceptable. If Ishinomoris OEL manga got to be on Anilist database then why not allow Ryuko Gamma Draconis and Hen Kai Pan to be on the database entry?
