Fall 2023. Akutsu, an old man sentenced to life imprisonment, is about to die alone in his cell. A flower, a "Mimosa pudica" that can speak like humans, says to him: “What a wasted life you have had.” As their "conversation" progresses, Akutsu begins to reflect on his past.

Summer 1986. Akutsu lives with Nana, a woman six years his junior, and her son Kensuke in a shabby apartment with a garden full of Mimosa pudicas. The victorious return, for one night, of a dying yakuza and the story of his family told by a flower that blooms in prison.
