Kodai Senshi Haniwatt

Zenkouji temple, Nagano. One day, a giant doguu – a clay statue from Japan's ancient Joumon period – appears, and starts to rampage through the city. No one can stop this savage, unearthly war god… No one but the ancient earthen warrior Haniwatt, that is. It's up to the government's secret counter-“doguun” agency to perform the age-old summoning ritual, transform into Haniwatt, and put an end to the destruction. In this dark, deliberately paced story inspired by Showa-era tokusatsu shows such as Kamen Rider and Godzilla, the monsters are based on real-life archaeological finds.
