SPOILERS BEWARE Following on from the masterpiece that was the TV series we have the muchanticipated movie sequel which finally made its way to us and was the long wait worth it? Yes absolutely This movie straight up knocked it out of the park its a phenomenal movie and just shows us once more why Made in Abyss is just a gem. The whole series has incredible story telling and countless memorable moments which will be remembered for years. Anyway moving onto the movie it starts literally exactly where the TV series ended so if youre binging both in a row then it just feels like a continuation. The main aspect of this movie is that it covers the fifth layer and showcases more horrific experiments carried out by the white whistle Bondrewd who I was eagerly waiting to see especially after learning the truth behind Mitty and Nanachi and since the final scene of the TV shows left us with Bondrewd it hyped it up even more and as mentioned before the movie certainly didnt disappoint. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/946052429835804682/unknown.png The movie introduces us to a new character Prushka and she is a child so I was already getting red flags but then its revealed she is Bondrewds daughter so at this point crazy red death flags start arising as Bondrewd didnt seem like the person to care about children even his daughter who wasnt actually blood related but adopted and well my worst fears came to fruition by the end of the movie. The way this movie builds over the course of the two hours is done really well and by the end of the movie Prushka meets her fate while we also learn some pretty dark truths the so called life reverberating stone which is used to create white whistles is in fact created from a human sacrifice which brings up a few questions I have but I will get to those later. Back to Prushka and Bondrewd from my best understanding he was conducting experiments on children in order to create cartridges which seem to repel the curse of the abyss as we see in the end of the movie between his and Regs fight at first he isnt affected by the curse but as the battle lingers on then he slowly starts losing his humanity by turning into a hollow similar to Nanachi and while this happens he tosses out cartridges which seem to hold the hearts of the children? Its hard for me to say what it was exactly but whatever organ it was it certainly had a pulse as we saw Prushkas cartridge did have a pulse before it turned into a white whistle there seems to be some sort of power in why the whistle was created but it all points to the strong power of love which I assume was Prushkas. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/946054365242871818/unknown.png Now back to some questions I have after learning of the creation of the white whistles firstly Ozen has one so who was the sacrifice for hers? Secondly Lyza has/had one since we dont know for sure that shes dead so Im going to leave the possibility for her being alive wide open so who was the sacrifice for Lyzas and Ozens while whistles? Bondrewd explains it pretty well that he sacrificed himself for his own so thats all fair and games but the other white whistles? If a human sacrifice is really necessary to create a while whistle then who were those sacrifices and did the sacrificed human also need to have a strong power of love like Prushka did these are my most burning questions after witnessing the ending sequence which is incredible. The last 35 minutes of this show are just impeccable I was just astonished at learning Prushkas backstory as her fate was already sealed in becoming a cartridge in order to repel the curse of the abyss and well since Prushkas a child like I mentioned in my other reviews children work wonders on me so her backstory is pretty emotional sad and all you feel is sympathy but its already too late since whats happened has happened so no grieving will bring her back. This ending to the movie is just fantastic the mood of it is perfect and all there is to do is just sit quietly and admire the masterpiece in front of you. Even though this movie stands alone as pretty much a masterpiece at this point it still does its job progressing the plot of the series and does this in a really good way while retaining everything that was so good about this anime this is still Made in Abyss at its finest its dark emotional with a really deep sad and kind of disturbing tone to it but thats what I love about the series so much. The movie is just an extension of the TV series and is just as enjoyable while giving new content to this already amazing series. Whats best is that this movie only covered the fifth layer and the cliffhanger of the movie ends on our trio of MCs heading to the sixth layer which means they are taking their final dive as cave raiders. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/946055770871574538/unknown.png I am eagerly awaiting the following sequel which has already been announced but we may have to wait for a while since Made in Abyss release schedule is pretty unpredictable so god knows if we have to wait one or two years for the following sequel one thing is sure though no matter how long we have to wait the sequel will be 100 worth it since Made in Abyss is a series which can do no wrong. Its TV series and movie have both been incredible masterpieces so anything that is Made in Abyss related I will absolutely love since Im a huge fan of the series now. I dont know how the original compares to the adaptation but whatever the adaptation did it couldnt have done better it truly outdone itself and all you need to do is simply experience this show to understand why I love it so much its really one of the best anime series out there and will certainly stand as one of my all time favorites for a good while. Overall I pretty much already explained why you should check this movie out so if you loved the TV series then this movie is just the same good old Made in Abyss you will love so go and check it out already I didnt touch on the OST but you already know where I stand with it its just glorious and the movie offers even more incredible OST to the already fantastic collection we had from the show alone. This series really can do no wrong as its just perfect in so many ways. S1 Reviewhttps://anilist.co/review/12623 S2 Reviewhttps://anilist.co/review/18670
