SPOILERS BEWARE After reviewing the anime for Air I watched the movie which had some differences and Im gonna give my take on it as well. I still feel like Im missing something with Air as it just doesnt impact me emotionally no matter how many times I rewatch the scenes the movie is fully focused on Misuzu/Yukito and Kanna/Ryuuya which is fine since these characters finally get a respectful amount of screen time which makes it easier to get attached to them however when there are sad scenes Im still just not affected emotionally I guess Air just isnt that kind of anime to me it may be for some but not for me. I still prefer Clannad as it moved me on a whole another level compared to Air. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/948934002432155658/unknown.png Since the movie has some differences I wont cover the main story again since it was already covered in my TV review and well it is still similar aside from making Minagi Michiru and Kano practically irrelevant since they never appear in the movie at all. The main difference that I noticed was the fact that Air had become an actual romance in the movie the characters actually voice their feelings to each other in the movie whereas in the show it was never shown even if they felt them for each other. I like this aspect more the actual romance side of the movie compared to the nature of the TV series Misuzu is super clingy in the movie compared to her more cautious approach in the anime and I genuinely felt her love in the movie in the show it feels like she may be interested but here in the movie you see a different side of Misuzu. Her deceased mother is brought up when she burns her photos and even has kiss scenes so it was a significant step forward in her character. I really like this Misuzu the bold and active Misuzu where if she wants something then she isnt afraid to voice her own feelings and show what she wants. There is also more backstory to Kanna and Ryuuya in the movie which was my favorite part in the anime it flashbacks to Kanna when its necessary as we see quite a similarity between Kanna and Misuzu so the movie wants you believe that Misuzu is a descendant of the winged race which it does pretty well. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/948934577227964436/unknown.png Now the OST as per usual from Kyoto is always at the highest level and I will never be able to criticize Kyotos OST choices as they are always on point in every show they have ever adapted. The fact that the OP and ED songs make a comeback in the movie made me smile since hearing this amazing OP once more was really awesome. Sadly the OST is far superior to the actual writing of Air Airs writing is alright at best but the OST is pretty incredible and offers memorable tracks. https://www..com/watch?v=SLobF6rEKesabchannel=Keyverse Since its a movie and most of the stuff I already covered in the actual anime review Im gonna call this review shorter and say that the movie is still genuinely enjoyable since it tells the story of Air in a slightly different perspective both are good with differences here and there but both get to the same conclusion so if you cried at the end of the anime then you may do here since I didnt in the anime the movie didnt get me either. Still its an enjoyable romance movie so if youre into this genre then give this movie a go and even more so if you really liked the anime adaptation of Air.
