SPOILERS BEWARE How Not to Summon a Demon Lord is an anime I first watched quite a while ago dating back to 2018 its sequel released earlier this year so as per my tradition I rewatch the prequels before moving onto the sequel my rating with this anime seemed to have gone down over the years for obvious reasons if you watch this as one of your early anime then it will feel amazing and something extraordinary after three years of watching anime I can quite clearly tell the difference between an average and a masterpiece needless to say this anime is enjoyable even in 2021 when I was rewatching it but after finishing the show and having some time to assess it as a whole thats all it is its an enjoyable average ecchi anime and nothing more it doesnt do anything out of the ordinarily but that wont stop me from enjoying it nonetheless this isekai certainly has its moments and if youre looking for boobs panty shots and lewd scenes then youve come to the right place. The story is okay and can be slightly immersive since the cliffhangers on some of the episodes are done really nicely and make the viewers watch that extra episode but still as a whole its simply an average anime oh and I forgot to mention but this essentially becomes Diablos harem by the end of the series as he has five nude females throwing themselves at him so if you like that genre then youve also come to the right place I personally can find harems very entertaining if they are done really well but its really nothing special here although not terrible its not the best harem but probably also wont be the worst either. A good middle of the road anime to kill time if you really need to but there are so many better choices out there the only reason I even stumbled upon this anime is because the ecchi side of anime is what originally drew me into this universe and this anime was just one of those ecchi shows I watched back in 2018 nowadays my tastes are completely different to what they were three years ago but thats to be expected back then it was all boobs and panty shots to satisfy horny old me but now its all about the grander image on life and the world. Im glad I changed to enjoy the more mature side of anime the most honestly since an extraordinarily immersive story will always be better than the best possible ecchi show. Back to this anime the cast of the show is a lot of cute girls to satisfy Diablos urges and boy do they get the job done one could very easily be envious of his position although he is your traditional shutin MC that by chance got reincarnated in a world similar to the game he played 24/7. He may be an average MC one but hes pretty badass and the fight scenes in this anime are very entertaining to view granted he is super OP to the point he beats anything and anyone without too much struggles but him using White Nova to decimate the army of fallen by the bridge had my jaw dropped even if I already knew that was to be expected actually seeing it in person was still pretty shocking. The story of the anime is somewhat ok and holds itself together but the main selling point of this anime is its ecchi and fanservice for sure just to name two scenes that stand out the most firstly the slave market episode 6th where Diablo tries to undo the enslavement spell is extremely suggestive as to whats really going on off camera the other would be Klems awakening 10th when Edelgard tells Diablo to fill Rem up with power through her hole which yes already sounds really bad out of context lmao then both Shera and Rem have the same lines which I will quote Im being filled up with Diablos power or something along those lines which again yes can be interpreted pretty badly when out of context One thing I didnt remember was that the owner would have to kiss his summon to enslave it which ends up meaning Diablo kisses a young loli but thats for another time I didnt actually remember there even being kisses in this anime so that was a surprise and of course as the rule of thumb due to a harem the main girls get envious after seeing the kiss but that is the only kiss we see still a decent number of romance/harem anime dont have those so seeing even one was pretty solid here. Like I have been stating already this anime is nothing special but its not awful a decent middle of the road anime to kill some time but there are a lot better ones which you SHOULD be watching instead needless to say this has a sequel which I am slightly excited for as in the end it will be new content that I havent seen yet there is always a slight bit of hype when Im about to watch a follow up sequel of a prequels I just finished rewatching so lets see what S2 has to offer.
