SPOILERS BEWARE Sequel to How Not to Summon a Demon Lord took a pretty bold step in the ecchi department S1 was nothing compared to this but that doesnt necessarily mean it was a bad thing watching an ecchi anime from time to time has its perks I can enjoy every genre granted some much more than others and ecchi isnt quite close to the top but I still had a blast watching this anime. First of all I mentioned this in my S1 review but my rewatch nearly three years after my blind watch in 2018 was so much more enjoyable this time so it was fitting to watch the sequel straight after as thats my style of watching either I watch the whole series in one go or just dont bother at all. The rewatch made me appreciate the characters a whole lot more and that only followed in the sequel at this point Diablo has an awesome diverse harem and dare I say all the girls are pretty amazing so picking the best one here is rather challenging I do have preferences for some and if I had to pick one then unironically it would be Rem but not that Rem this is Rem Galeu who does very much have her perks I dont quite remember the name of her class but she is essentially a neko and you can never go wrong with those can you? Also the outfit that she receives in the 5th episode is really adorable it is in fact more ecchi yet it looks good and I mean REALLY good on her if I had doubts prior over whether she was best girl then this outfit definitely helps that from the first season alone there wasnt that much of a choice since essentially it was only Shera being the other option but here in S2 most of the characters from the prequel get a decent amount of screen time for you to really appreciate them. Take a look at Klem for instance the 7th episode gave her all the time she needed to shoot up your rankings and she definitely did in mine a good chunk of this episode was dedicated to Klem and deservedly so as she is adorable and crazy popular in the town it seems like yes she is a demon lord yet receives so much gratitude from the mortal races and of course her personality is pleasantly threatening to the point you cant help but smile when you see her. I really do need more Klem screen time as every moment is so precious. So the 4th episode took me by surprise the second half of it notably two of the floors in Diablos own dungeon are pretty entertaining firstly the lava floor where its so hot that all his female party members strip damn I said this before but I will say it again Diablo is incredibly privileged he has a party full of females literally stripping for him and the best part is that they would most likely happily oblige if he were to ask them in a normal bedroom scenario wink wink back to the episode once they pass this floor we reach one of the best parts of the anime the idol concert is straight up awesome for a while I was wondering if there was going to be an insert song and I was not disappointed the idol insert song is genuinely a banger and I mean that wholeheartedly I love this song its such a trashy song but welp seems like these are my tastes and honestly I dont care since this song really knocked it out of the park it has the perfect idol vibe it gives off. All the monsters in the audience were having a blast I was having a blast seems like Diablos party was too so all and all everyone was satisfied but damn was this ending to the episode pretty awesome. The main selling point of this song is that it is irresistible catchy even after finishing the anime Im still listening to itits really got into my head for good and I have no regrets. While Im already on topic of OST lets move to the main piece of the pie the OP of this season holy fuk I heard the first five seconds of the melody in the first episode which already gave an insanely strong vibe and once again I was not disappointed this OP is honestly one of the best Ive heard in a while its again that trashy kind of song yet its irresistible and then theres the chorusthe damn chorus is the main selling point of this song Ive started to notice a trend over the years that the trashy labelled shows seem to have incredibly catchy OPs for instance Eromanga Sensei and Highschool DxD are just two to name. All three of these shows share the same trashy vibe yet their OPs are spectacular. The ED song is no slouch either it is sung by the same person that did the OP and that becomes very apparent after listening to it for just a few seconds both give off this same incredibly cheery and happy vibe that you can tell the person singing is just having an incredible time. In the 3rd episode we are introduced to a future member of Diablos harem at the time of her introduction it is not known that Horn is in fact a she but fastforward a couple episodes and the big reveal occurs now Im gonna be honest that my initial reaction was that its a her but the anime went along with the fact it was a him so I went with it too then we see the reveal in the 5th episode and all things make sense Horns character only grows with each episode and she becomes yet another precious member of Diablos harem she is a loli so you know how it goes gotta protect and not lewd of course even though the show tries to do that for you at times haha. For the majority of this season Diablo is shown to still be strong but nowhere near as OP as he was back in S1 so in the 6th episode we got to see the good old Diablo the fully OP Diablo showed his face by absolutely decimating the demon lords army without even breaking a sweat this is pretty awesome to witness as this season took a much stronger ecchi approach and limited Diablos strength quite considerably here he is no longer the strongest player ever and in some fights genuinely needed assistance even the head Paladin triggered his amulet or whatever it was that left him with 1HP these kind of items are pretty common in RPGs so so seeing the S1 Diablo was pretty nostalgic and we got reminded very clearly why he was feared by all in S1. Then the icing on the cake of this episode is once more Horn at the end of this episode her being saved by Diablo is simple yet so heartwarming especially after what she says about her new party so a very satisfying episode on the whole. With that it I bring this review to a close the last few episodes didnt really stand out in any way its essentially what you expect from this series at this point I had a blast watching both seasons to be honest so its definitely an enjoyable anime its not outstanding but still a worthy time investment the biggest thing that I take away from this season is the damn OSTs because holy moly those really knocked it out of the park harem and ecchi shows arent usually my highest priority but this one was nice to experience since I havent seen a show from these genres in a while so it was a nice change of pace. All and all its nothing special but still has its perks and was pretty enjoyable to watch.
