SPOILERS BEWARE So Magia Record as far as Im aware is adapted from a game and this wouldnt be my first time watching a show adapted from a game but it was certainly my first time watching a show adapted from a game that I didnt originally know for example Ive seen the Azur Lane anime but that was after being a fan of the game for a while when it comes to Magia Record I can certainly relate with people who watched AL without playing the game originally as the cast of the characters is huge in both games so covering them all is practically impossible in 13 episodes. So since I dont know the original I have to improvise to realise which characters were chosen to be the MCs like Iroha or Yachi. So many new characters were introduced way later into the show so they didnt really get much screen time like Sana for example she basically gets just 12 episodes where she appears and then disappears again as we shift to another arc or storyline so in a sense this series is definitely a mess but Im sure it would make much more sense if I played the original game it was adapted from. Its still not bad but not great either its just average and since its meant to be based of the original Madoka Magica you see similarities except the cast of this show is four times bigger which just isnt enough to be covered in 13 episodes I do see that there is a sequel planned so maybe this series will get better in the sequel. Also that ending was kind of interesting and it definitely piques my curiosity as to whats next so for that reason alone I will watch the sequel whenever that gets released. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/968206118700593203/unknown.png It did take a rewatch to truly appreciate the beauty of Madoka Magica but with this series I dont think a rewatch would change much there are no Homura or Madokas in this show which made the original so special with the bond that those two had and it was so special it took genuinely a 2nd watch in order to understand the true meaning of why Madoka Magica was so well written and why it grew substantially on me as I was rewatching it. We do get the other three magical girls making an appearance briefly though Sayaka Mami and Kyouko all make appearances in this side story as its regarded but that only adds to the massive scale of the cast that we already previously had and neither make a huge impact aside from Mami who goes kinda crazy in the final episode so not fully sure whats up with that but maybe that will be answered more clearly in the sequel. Like I said earlier its just an average show and I dont know how closely it mirrors the original content of the game so I cant compare the adaptation to the original story but it seems to be all over the place with the amount of characters that are present here at times chaotic and trying to tell multiple stories all in one season which probably wasnt the best idea it was still kind of enjoyable since I very much like this dark theme to magical girls that this and the original have going for them but the original is way better and tells a much more meaningful story than Magia Record. So not a bad show but not great either just a standard average anime. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/968206821317804132/unknown.png Post edit: After rewatching I now have my answer as to why Mami went berserk also I validated my opinion that after a rewatch its still a mediocre show it has its really good moments at times but since I havent played its source Im still clearly missing many things here.
