SPOILERS BEWARE Im trying really hard to understand what Polyphonica wanted to showcase and achieve but unfortunately Im drawing a blank here genuinely dont know what the story was meant to achieve as I finished the last episode and simply had the feeling of and thats it? Also the romance tag on this anime is very fabricated as I wouldnt even classify this as one since there arent any genuine relationships in the show there are ones that are bound by contract but those dont have to develop into genuine love even though most probably will there are hints at which characters may have feelings for whom but where the anime ended it just felt like the show ended midway through now Im fully aware since I did a little bit of research that this anime was adapted from a VN so the full content may not have been adapted but this seems like only a fraction take Clannad for instance as that adaptation of its VN is complete looking past my favouritism as its my favorite show altogether at least it felt like I got closure but in Polyphonica I dont have this feeling of closure in fact the last two episodes are the only ones that felt like they were connected in kind of an arc sense since the 11th episode actually leaves on a minor cliffhanger and leads into the finale but at the end of the episode all I got from this show was that spirits and humans live together bound by contracts which is fine but earlier this year I watched a show called Shakugan no Shana which portrays a similar bond between humans and flame hazes in that regard and the whole story is simply so much better and feels finished at least which is not something I can say about Polyphonica. Since its a short show and not exactly one that I gathered a lot of thoughts for this may very well be my shortest review yet as Im genuinely running out of content to talk about that wont just be ramble to add extra words for an anime thats supposed to be mainly about music sure it has songs played by the players but thats it they strengthen the spirits ability to fight but thats all? Other music anime that I really adored such as Your Lie in April and White Album 2 both had other interesting concepts going on but here in Polyphonica each episode felt standalone and I never really felt that the story connected together at all. A brief mention of the 7th episode and in particular the chase scene that is probably the highlight of the show especially going down the railway tracks that section in particular had me laughing a lot so it achieved its goal at least but sadly for this anime it just felt like lots and lots of OVA episodes bundled together with each one having their own story and plot rather than working towards a grand finale. Overall this one is pretty skippable no wonder its rated so low on average as its just not that entertaining thankfully it was only 12 episodes but those 12 episodes really did feel like a slog and I wasnt exactly motivated to keep watching more but finished it regardless since Im a completionist and try my best to finish anything and everything that I begin. At least Corti is very cute and pretty matured in her true from but thats about as much appeal as there is for this show sadly. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/901446343099285554/Corticarte.jpg
