SPOILERS BEWARE Let me start with a little bit of backstory to how I found this anime in the first place. Backtrack to early 2019 I saw the first part of the first episode on YT essentially just the mini episode titled Eraser which piqued my curiosity as I found those five minutes entertaining to say the least and wondered what else the show has to offer. Turns out this teasing principle that I saw in that short episode is the fundamental core of what gives this anime its charm and appeal. This is a story about two middle schoolers Takagi who loves to tease her love interest and Nishikata who swears that he will get his revenge one day by winning against the master of teasing Takagi herself. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/952656225961648128/unknown.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/952656299424899212/unknown.png For the most part this anime is very basic as its an endless cycle of losses for Nishi as he strives to finally land his first victory which doesnt come easy at all. Nishi is very oblivious to the hints Takagi offers throughout the show which makes it slightly painful to see him so unaware but I have to remember that they are middle schoolers and young boys like him will not have romance or relationships on their minds at all. I do feel that there has to be a limit to how much of a brick he can be since some of her hints are clear as daylight yet he still doesnt pick up on any. Due to Nishis obliviousness it only amuses Takagi to tease him more as he seriously is too innocent for this world. Takagi on the other hand wastes no time in taking shots whenever she can but she never does it out of harm. Takagis character grows very fast at the beginning as we see what kind of psychological warfare monster she really is its almost like she lives in Nishis head. To make things worse for Nishi she even gives him blatant hints during games he could very easily win if he doesnt think out of the box. Takagi practically never lies except that one time she said she likes him only to say it was a lie shortly afterwards. But the real question is was it a lie that she likes him or a lie that she lied about lying that she likes him? I hope you had a fun time reading that phrase. Well its pretty obvious the she lied about not liking him since its her love interest and if she lied about liking him then obviously she loves him right. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/952657288840220732/unknown.png In the 11th episode after many loses and restless nights suffering from muscles pains due to the number of workouts he had to endure for all the times he was teased Nishi finally lands his first win and with that comes a critical hit right to Takagis heart. Sadly he is oblivious as usual to the victory he so happened to score accidentally. This proved that Takagi isnt invincible though so he can only go forward from here on out. The final episode was also very enlightening as it shows us a flashback to how Nishi and Takagi met for the first time in bizarre circumstances of one losing her handkerchief and the other being late since he found it on way to school on his first day. Later we see Nishi returning the same handkerchief a 2nd time and leaving a short letter inside thanking Takagi for that day but also for a lot of things if we look at it more honestly. Our boy dealt another critical blow to her heart with that letter so things are shaping up very nicely for the future. This episode also showed us Takagis honest emotions when she realised she may not be close to Nishi anymore during class after the new seating arrangement which further implies she likes him if that hadnt been so obvious after the 100 hints shes dropped throughout the series already. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/952658006674382938/unknown.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/952658196001071154/unknown.png I want to mention the soundtrack for this series since its quite large there is only one OP but there are seven EDs for the first season alone. Some of these EDs are really damn good and if you paid enough attention to them then you will see a story being told throughout the EDs as well. What is more fascinating about the EDs is that Takagis seiyu actually sings all of them and they all sound lovely. My personal favorites are Chiisana Koi no Uta AM 11:00 and Ai Uta which all sound great and feel like they carry a lot of emotion behind them. Thats not to say the other songs arent great but its these three that stand out as my favorites from the bunch. The last ED Deatta Koro no You ni is also pretty fitting for the final episode as it sounds like a story ending song which is what its purpose here is. Overall the soundtrack for this anime was fantastic. https://www..com/watch?v=hpn6NOCCahAabchannel=RieTakahashiTopic https://www..com/watch?v=YHDS1DXz7Yabchannel=RieTakahashiTopic https://www..com/watch?v=5LLuWKm74Iabchannel=RieTakahashiTopic https://www..com/watch?v=KF9eURBpUd8abchannel=MDGZzzz Lastly I will quote what Takagi said in one of the episodes I wonder what its like to enjoy your youth. Well it is pretty obvious that she and Nishi are definitely enjoying their youth as they spend plenty of time with each other Takagi already knows that Nishi is the one for her but Nishi is still yet to realise that however this will hopefully come with time as there is no one like Takagi that gets him that flustered or his heart racing as her. This was actually my third watch of the first season and I am starting to appreciate this anime more each time I watch it. I can only believe that this series will get even better than it already is.
