SPOILERS BEWARE At its core this season is similar to its prequel HOWEVER it took steps forward in the correct direction as there is actually decent development to Nishikata here less so for Takagi but she blushes much more in this season than its prequel which tells us that Nishi is finally doing things right. The core principle of Takagi teasing Nishi remains the same but her teasing has gone from silly pranks to straight up couple goals as some of the punishment games are less so punishment games and more so actions that couples would do so she isnt even trying to hide her interest in the slightest anymore. In fact she proactively tries to cause misunderstandings when they are found together alone be it during the eye drop scene or during their game of hide and seek. In Takagis mind it doesnt have to be a misunderstanding for everyone else to see if you know her and Nishis relationship is real. Takagi is very mature for her age and knows exactly what she wants what she doesnt know is how to react when Nishi lands critical hits which was very well shown in this season. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/953672069181227008/unknown.png In the first episode Nishi catches Takagi before she falls into the river which was a very nice quick judgement call and a victory in itself since he held her hand sadly he doesnt see it as that as his mind is constantly fighting within itself whether what he did is awkward and embarrassing or the exact act Takagi wanted. If this didnt count as a win then the last episode certainly did but I will get to it later. The next episode was centered around Valentines day where Nishi gets handmade chocolate from Takagi and this isnt the obligatory kind either as he receives that from her too this may very well be the biggest hint yet so I hope he realises soon since sooner than later we will all be screaming at the screen due to his sheer obliviousness. Its that or the fact he is constantly fighting mind games within himself whether he will get teased for accepting a gift such as this. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/953672578080329748/unknown.png Throughout this season I could see Nishis character slowly develop even if its at a snails pace since the seventh episode Nishi potentially realises that he may actually like Takagi since he seemed somewhat disappointed that he didnt hold her hand when the folk song ended. Now was that due to his confused feelings or the fact he lost the game? It felt like its a bit of both. The eleventh episode only further strengthens my theory that his character had developed as on two separate occasions Nishi wanted to see Takagi to challenge her to a contest and win or did it subconsciously have a deeper meaning? Its the latter for sure in this case. This episode our boy lands yet another critical hit after so long. He finally asked the question she most wanted to hear hinted at it so many times but he finally realised it the brickkun had developed if even a tiny bit today Takagis shocked expression and smile were truly a sight to behold and she couldnt contain her happiness when she gave him all the drinks. If were to see more sides of this Takagi then Im all for it but for that to happen we will need Nishis cooperation. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/953673173965078528/unknown.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/953673502760783882/unknown.png This brings me to the final episode which I will have the most to comment on as this episode may very well be the best one in the whole series up to this point to be honest. Kimura the real MVP of this episode since he knows whats really up and has been looking out for Nishi for a while now well Yukari too so those two characters will likely spur this romance development forward but Kimura was the true MVP of this season without a doubt. Truly what a good friend Nishi has looking out for him. In the end Nishi finally wins yet he isnt aware that he did...he held her hand but out of consideration for safety rather than winning the duel which shows how kind hearted he truly is even if he is incredibly oblivious. Takagi made that blatantly obvious when she said he wasnt on a losing streak when they lit fireworks on the beach. This was a very wholesome episode finale to the season. Also Hamaguchi and Houjou went to the festival together so thats another supposed romance on the horizon which I would be interested in exploring further. This episode also dropped a beautiful insert song near the end of episode its a healing song more than anything its charming and wholesome which can also be said about the whole anime for that matter. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/953674157848145970/unknown.png https://www..com/watch?v=UTx6xsnzOGgabchannel=Donald I mentioned the OST back in S1 since there was quite the number of ED songs and its no different here. I already mentioned the beautiful insert song above but thats only a fraction of the OST for this season as there are eight EDs this season Similarly like in the last season some of these are really damn amazing and once more Takagis seiyu sings every last one which is incredible. Rie Takahashi has really devoted herself to this role if shes happy to sing so many damn songs for a single anime. She has my utmost respect. My favorites from this bunch are the first ED Kanade the second ED Konayuki being my favorite song this season. The third ED Kiseki the fourth ED Arigatou and the sixth ED Anata ni since its so different as its a fast paced song compared to everything else being soft and gentle. She even covered the first seasons OP as one of the ED songs here The dedication of this woman is not to be underestimated https://www..com/watch?v=jsud2nBRj0gabchannel=RieTakahashiTopic https://www..com/watch?v=3t88qkRR7wabchannel=RieTakahashiTopic https://www..com/watch?v=NDLsmKPOPyEabchannel=RieTakahashiTopic https://www..com/watch?v=hkjguAMtTwabchannel=RieTakahashiTopic https://www..com/watch?v=h1YMwWGwcGwabchannel=RieTakahashiTopic https://www..com/watch?v=CnJTDXUKbZsabchannel=RieTakahashiTopic My closing notes for this sequel was that it was lovely and it progressed the story forward the ending scene with them holding hands during the festival is Nishis win this season and hopefully he can score more in the future. A very enjoyable sequel to an already wholesome and heartwarming anime. This anime has its own charm and I definitely adore it.
