SPOILERS BEWARE The sequel to DaL isnt much different from the prequel as this season introduces us to three more members which join Shidos harem the Yamai sister berserkers Kaguya and Yuzuru as well as the idol spirit Miku. This season however didnt answer any questions that we had from S1 as we still dont know who the Phantom is we now know that it gives humans spirit powers as Miku also received her powers from the Phantom. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/955444325767061565/unknown.png If I want to touch on the new characters in this season then the Yamai sisters had a little bit of backstory to them but it wasnt anything special however Miku had tons as her arc essentially covered half the season so she got a lot of screen time. Like Kotori Miku is also a human but she was given her powers from the Phantom which we are still yet to learn more about. We know Kurumi is hunting it as well but thats the extent of our knowledge. Miku is a tsundere and comes across as very hard to like initially as she is a full blown lesbian with complete hatred towards men who crushed her dreams when she was a human. This much is understandable however she uses this excuse to hate all men which is a very narrow minded perspective. The final minutes of the final episode Miku has a huge mood swing and thats all due to the fact Shido saved her. She fell in love at that moment and isnt inclined to hide her feelings in the slightest. The last member to join the harem but easily one of the most proactive ones in showing her affection for him. For the majority of this season I didnt like Miku but after seeing this lovey dovey side I may have to rethink again. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/955444878781841419/unknown.png One scene that I can never get enough of watching during this season is Kannazukis masterclass when piloting the Ratatoskr during the emergency when they were attacked. He finally shows his true colors as to why he is the vice commander as he was simply badass in this episode. He may have a perverted side to him but when it really matters then he is reliable as one can be. Another character that is totally badass which I didnt mention before is Mana she is one of the best wizards DEM has to offer but thats because her body has been modified with magic resulting in her being pretty damn powerful however her lifespan is foreshadowed to not have much left of. This raises another question because if Mana has been modified to this degree then what happened to her before? Did she nearly die? And while Im on topic of the Takamiya family then Isaac Wescott seems to know some things regarding Shido Takamiyas origin before he was adopted into the Itsuka household as he almost called him his old name when they first met. Hopefully this is sneak peak to learning who Shido really is as well as the entire Takamiya family as so far we know literally nothing. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/955445966771748864/unknown.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/955446285756923904/unknown.png If Im already talking characters then there is one more I need to mention once again. Kurumi during this season only solidifies herself as my favorite character of the show she is the kind of villain that you want to root for since the way she approaches what she does is so reasonable. She doesnt appear till the latter half of this season but every moment with Kurumi on screen is valuable to me. Here she helps Shido save Tohka who was kidnapped by DEM but there is one specific episode I want to talk about which brings out Kurumis true character. The OVA episode of this season called Kurumi Star Festival or can be classified as the eleventh episode is easily my favorite episode in the entire franchise. This single episode focuses purely on Kurumi and her date with Shido and this episode is simply beautiful. The wedding scene is simply heartwarming as she looks gorgeous in her dress and her wish to meet Shido again hits me right in the feels as she knew shes only a clone so has limited time. This was also the same Kurumi that Shido met on the roof of the school back in S1. This episode only further emphasised why Kurumi is the best character of the show but not only that as she is one of the best anime girls out there too. I am still waiting for the arc where Kurumi will fall for Shido and get her powers sealed but I dont think that will ever happen. She has already fallen for Shido a while ago but shes not one to give up her incredible powers so easily. Her affection for him must be maxed at this point so as long as she doesnt kiss him then she will be safe with her powers still intact. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/955448212561489960/unknown.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/955447988711485460/unknown.png The OST for this season doesnt disappoint as it introduces a few new great songs to add to the collection from S1. Quite a few idol songs are present due to Miku and her concerts but I enjoyed those idol like moments in the show as they were different but fitting and if the OST is amazing then one surely cant complain. The song performed by Shidos school Attention Question is probably my favorite of the idol like songs for this season. The Yamai sisters battle theme is another one to note from this season. All and all the OST of DaL in general is simply awesome. https://www..com/watch?v=AoBjZkXcWK4list=PL6zV3aVmkGm4EG91QROTERnxatAiVJw0bindex=21abchannel=AloneButNotForgotten https://www..com/watch?v=TOB6AyIyyK4abchannel=KiritoAnime https://www..com/watch?v=aLpTerYbmAabchannel=Kurogane My closing notes on this season are that I still thoroughly enjoy DaL as an anime. This season didnt leave that large of an impact as the prequel but its still fun nonetheless. I am not counting the OVA for this season when it comes to the rating but if I did then this season would score higher than the first since that single OVA episode was easily the best episode of DaL. Not to mention I am already a big Kurumi simp but that episode gave her such nice character development and showed off sides we hadnt seen before. I can only hope for more Kurumi in the sequels as well as some answers to some of the major questions this anime has presented so far most notably what is the origin of the spirits and who is Phantom?
