SPOILERS BEWARE Let me start off saying that I was really looking forward to finally watching this movie this evening since I found out it was finally available yesterday evening. After a long days work when I returned home I was finally able to chill to some fresh Takagisan content. Did I set my expectations high for this? Yes absolutely since S3 was pretty damn incredible so naturally I wished for more of the same. This movie starts as you would expect this series Takagi plays her role at teasing Nishi over various things for the first half of the movie and then the cat happened... Oh my god the second half of the movie with Hana is nothing shy of brilliant. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1064661685496971315/image.png Remember the shy Nishi from the past seasons? Well forget about that since the Nishi around Hana is a completely new breed who shows off his honest emotions. The scenes showing him and Takagi caring about Hana are so genuine so pure so natural making it a beautiful spectacle. They essentially treated the kitty as their family even running out in the middle of the night in a storm to ensure shes safe... if thats not dedication then I dunno what is. Followed by falling asleep as a trio at the shrine its such a heartwarming scene. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1064664254352982077/image.png These happy times werent meant to last as at the peak of their excitement and Takagi even finally being allowed to adopt the kitty but Hana went missing which led to a crippling scene as both saw Hana essentially being adopted right in front of their eyes and...they couldnt battle the reasoning that the kids gave for wanting the kitty since it reminded them of their now deceased cat. Nishi and Takagi may have looked like they held it together on the surface but deep down they were devastated and heartbroken. Its like having your child stripped away from you at will unexpectedly and having to slowly and painfully watch as they move further and further out of your vision likely to never be seen and this is kids who are about to finish middle school were talking about Well this led to yet another staggering scene on the bridge where Nishi straight up tells Takagi he will make her happy and always which is essentially saying I like you and I want to make you happy with me. What even happened in the second half of the movie since it suddenly started dropping some major moments I was totally not expecting. I came to watch Takagisan to chill and have a good time but I certainly wasnt expecting feels yet I received those as a bonus too 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1064668981237121034/image.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1064668780837482586/image.png Takagi later returns these feelings of his as she also says she will make him happy so in this movie alone I got essentially two confessions in a romcom that previously struggled to get any genuine feelings across for three seasons... which led up to the finale of S3 which was fantastic. The pacing of the second half of this movie completely blew me away I set my expectations high and they were still exceeded. I really love watching these two live out their youthful days. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1064669439829757962/image.png A brief note on our trio of Sanae Yukari and Mina they got a little bit of screentime and although it wasnt grand it still managed to convey its message. Mina wanted them all to be together forever but time is a cruel entity that doesnt wait for anyone. As the graduation loomed came a possibility that friends will head their own separate ways in their future lives. Such a terrifying thought led Mina to panic and suddenly want to do one hundred activities during summer but just as they were reaching the end she hesitated...? Why? Because it would mean the end of summer break and also the end of their time together. In this instance things end happily but it reminds me of one of all time favorite phrases treasure what you have while it lasts because you wont know what you had once you lost it but the real translation refers to thinking you could never lose it. Even if these times do come to an end then remember to smile that they happened and not be sad that its over. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1064673162224209990/image.png If what I covered wasnt enough then the post credits scene had one last surprise to truly end this movie in the most exquisite way. A sudden time leap to now a family of three including Chii their daughter. I have actually read most of the manga so Ive seen snippets which show this future life but damn seeing them actually grown and mature is incredibly sweet. All that teasing over the years has gotten them this far. Lastly Chii is bloody adorable goddamn it 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1065317317996728330/image.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1064675134646009986/image.png To conclude I went into this movie with severely high expectations but those were well matched and completely surpassed. I expected more of the same kind of Takagisan from the previous seasons which is what I got for about half the movie then the pacing took of like a rocket in the second half leaving me completely speechless to the events that unfolded. Having endured their relationship from the very beginning which only started as teasing a classmate later bloomed into genuine love and affection over the years and I loved being part of this stunning journey. This series has no right to be this good but it really is. I came to have a great watch with one of my favorite couple but got so much more what a perfect conclusion.
