SPOILERS BEWARE Here we have Oreimos sequel and oh man where to begin. The first season was all over the place but had the most loosely tied plot for a SoL but here in the sequel I would be lying if I said there was a plot. By the end of the season this has pretty much turned into a harem with all the girls craving Kyous attention and lusting for his love Kirino isnt quite there yet with the latter but Im sure its only a matter of time that such events will commence in the ONA and Im absolutely gonna hate it. There are many dodgy cringey and straightup weird episodes which greatly overshadow the few which are actually decent. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1125732322940047451/image.png Here we have a timeline of this season and if it looks like an incomprehensible mess then youre spot as thats exactly what this dumpster fire has become. There is no longer any rhyme or reason with any sense of plot here as its all over the place with random episodes that could very easily be classed as filler. This has now become a terrible cringeworthy harem which I want to state has no end goal but...well I kinda do know where its heading for its climax and I will REALLY not like it... 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/454407681726218251/1125187948447547392/SPOILERimage.png Credit to Daglom for creating this fantastic meme of a timeline. Now come the main issues with this sequel it simply didnt know what it wanted to be in the end. The second episode is a huge cringe fest especially watching Ayase and Kyou attempting to pull off scenes from the dating sim in real life. Suddenly we got the Ayase yandere route unlocked? She definitely lost it after being neglected by her best friend to a game and also persuaded to perform cringey roleplay from a dating sim. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1120446448459329767/image.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1120446543695184012/image.png The penultimate episode is heavily Ayase focused as she was tasked with taking care of Kyou during the one month study period where he had to get an A in order to move back home. By the end of this period once he passed she confessed her love but it didnt really carry that much emotional impact behind in as confessions normally do. It felt more on the lines of lets give it a shot and see how it goes to which she was rejected cried a little but got over her rejection suspiciously quickly...? Its just baffling hence labelling it Ayase happens on our lovely timeline. In short Ayase is not a character I really care for in this anime. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1125172053075578910/image.png Another really shit episode is the fourth one when Ria appears to stay over for a few nights at the Kousaka household. This episode was certainly questionable and straightup filthy at times as we had the word lolicon said about a dozen times... It was hot garbage yet somewhat entertaining but it was real trash. Furthermore to deflect the accusations of being called a lolicon he deflected it in a rather poor manner...by stating hes a siscon instead... I think we all know where the story is heading : 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1120465060528144487/image.png Another short and awful arc was the fake dating between Kirino and Kyou. It was once more painfully cringey to endure and lets be real here we all know where its heading as this fake dating is obviously a foreshadow to the ending. Its also painfully cringey that Kyou is so obsessed with Kirino having a boyfriend... Is he jealous? Maybe or is it just his brotherly instincts kicking in that he has to over watch his little sister? Somehow I think its the former but it seems to be a bit of both. In the end of this arc Kirino having a boyfriend was all an act to get Kyou to notice her and be doted on which was meant to be a wholesome exchange but I simply didnt care. I dont really care for either of these characters. Ive stated my dislike for Kirino in the prequel and a few wholesome and cute scenes simply arent gonna cut it. Its not enough for a redemption arc so this short arc was basically a waste of time and space. At least it brought the siblings closer which is totally where I want to see this series heading isnt it... 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1126081226755813506/image.png Oreimo does have some positives though so let me touch on those. Last season I asked for more Saori especially showing her true side and the third episode delivered. Its also one of few episodes I can genuinely consider to be good. Saori is stunning without her dorky getup so I wish I could see more of this side to her As far as harem members go shes likely my 2 after Ruri and a shining light in this dumpster fire. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1120454904486572112/image.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1125883423525974157/image.png The only other good part on our timeline would be the short dating arc between Ruri and Kyou. Ive already stated this in the prequel and ONA but Ruri is my fav harem member as well as character of the anime. Ruri genuinely loves Kyou and wanted to date which commences and I enjoyed this grace period because it couldnt last it simply couldnt end on such a positive note. This is Oreimo were talking about which has the cursed incest tag thrown around so if he dated literally any of the other girls I would still not take it seriously since my speculation has been dead set on what Ive heard about this series. Needless to say I didnt take these few episodes for granted I really enjoyed to their fullest potential similarly to the ONA since I knew this was as good as Oreimo will get. At least we got to see Ruri looking gorgeous and the play on her name with Shironeko because of her white outfit was cute. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1122621553612443769/image.png Ruri drawing ideas on how she wanted to spend time together was adorable and wholesome totally in her character. Sadly as proclaimed earlier this relationship was shortlived as we reached the last event that she wanted to spend with her senpai : 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1122636564418273433/image.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1122643641018634441/image.png Ruris such a devoted girl and showed no signs of her uncontrollable love for Kyou stopping anytime soon after her bold declaration How can I not love this character? She alongside Saori and Kanako are few rare shining lights upon this clusterfuk of a sequel. The story and plot is god awful but these characters are at least easing the burden of slogging through it. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1123352362782826526/image.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1123352641846657064/image.png The third and final ray of light upon this anime would be Kanako. I totally relish her demeanor and vibes as well as her drip which is fantastic. The more screen time she received the more I started realizing she reminds me of Kyuokohttps://anilist.co/character/40006/KyoukoSakura from Madoka Magicahttps://anilist.co/anime/9756/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica/ whos company I really enjoy. Her manner of speaking and personality really resonates with me as she has that cool and badass personality trope surrounding her. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1123355732776063076/image.png I wanted to include some of Kirinos reactions to eroge since they are genuinely terrifying and fantastic at times. For instance this was Kirinos face when Kyou pulled up on that Meruru bike to pick her up from her photo shoot. Its safe to say she completely forget where she was as she was simply overwhelmed by the sheer boldness of the spectacle she witnessed. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1123343334082084945/image.png Then we have these GIFs which were created by Ofzen which further emphasize her love for eroge which knows no bounds... Its genuinely frightening how obsessed she is over little sisters... 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/953620600553881600/1125768501630599268/kirinostack.gif 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1125185518016155758/KirinosExcitement.gif Theres this sunset scene which is by far the most gorgeous and beautiful shot of the anime which I cant help but admire. It even gives strong romantic vibes especially since Kirino is wearing a wedding dress but...then I remember that its siblings which stop me from truly enjoying this spectacular moment. This scene was so good it feels wrong to be part of this abomination that is Oreimo. Truly a shame. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1123343807228956883/image.png I did notice some cool references so I shall share those too. For starters in the first episode we had a 3rd Impact which seems to be a potential Eva https://anilist.co/anime/30/NeonGenesisEvangelion/reference? Thats pretty awesome if it were the case. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1120439147828609206/image.png In the fourth episode we had some SAOhttps://anilist.co/anime/11757/SwordArtOnline/ figures which again is a nice reference. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1120462069389590609/image.png Lastly theres the finale to this season which is a flashback to the Kousaka siblings childhood which is meant to give a whole new perspective of Kirino since she used to cling to her brother but over time theyve drifted their separate ways especially when she realized that the brother she admired never actually existed in the first instance. Its meant to be touching but as stated earlier I simply dont care about this duo so whatever you may show me will fly over my head as I simply dont care for them. The finale still leaves me perplexed as its an entire episodes length for flashback and then it just ends...and its not even good closure. Im aware it leads into the ONA which will conclude this series but the final episode being a full on backstory of the Kousaka siblings and not even returning to the present is very bizarre. This has pretty much become a full on harem at this point with practically all the females cast wanting Kyous attention and love. Needless to say although this series may genuinely be trash it made for an entertaining group watch so thanks for my buddies Daglom and Ofzen for slogging through it with me. PS: Im honestly worried what the ONA will hold in store now... S1 Reviewhttps://anilist.co/review/21237 ONA Reviewhttps://anilist.co/review/21278 S2 ONA Reviewhttps://anilist.co/review/22356
