Well its time to write my review for the ovas of Kimagure Orange Road. This review is going to be a lot shorter than my one of the TV series. The first thing I want to say is that imo the ova episodes are integral to the overall story. Each episode in the ova has something important which ultimately ties into the ultimate ending for the series. Now I noticed there is supposed to be a list of when you should watch each ova episode. I.e between what episodes etc but imo this isnt at all necessary. It should be noted that some of the ova episodes have the third opening theme of the anime. In my opinion all that matters is you make sure to watch the ova episodes AFTER the start of the anime preferably later in the anime imo and to make sure to watch them BEFORE the two films. Anyway now for the really important stuff. Im going to refrain from any spoilers of course but I will talk about some of the content of these ovas episodes. As I said before each episode is actually important for the overall series. Without going into too much detail the episode White Lovers has Madoka and Kyosuke facing some very dangerous situations where their romance and bond is actually strengthened more than ever due to these events. I feel that there is an exact moment in this episode where no matter what theres no turning back and their love is solidified and unbreakable. Another highlight of this ova for me is the episodes focusing on Kyousukes hot blooded tomboy cousin Akane. Interestingly enough Akane actually develops a crush on Madoka. Of course since kane is also an esper and has set her sites on Madoka a lot of trouble is going to ensue. I want to now mention what for may may just be the highlight of the ova. The episode Hawaiian Suspense in my opinion may just be he very bets of the ova. This episode really seemed to have a high budget because it looks more like a full length film despite only being about 24 minutes. Madoka Kyosuke and Hikaru are on a trip to Hawaii here and it opens with a wonderfully charming musical sequence of the three of them having a shearly blissful vacation together. Were lucky to get some very lovely fanservice and visual shots here of Madoka and Hikaru in their swimsuits and its a very pleasant and heartfelt fun scene between the three. Aside from this I think the real highlight comes later on when some American characters show up. What really blew me away here is instead of the usual terrible heavily accented and broken ENGRISH you hear every time they have a Japanese seiyuu speaking English this time they actually hired eal western English speakers to voice the American characters. I was so pleasantly surprised with this I couldnt believe it. Its really rare imo for them to actually go out of their way to have actual English speakers voice non Japanese characters and it adds such a layer of realism and authenticity to the world. While were on the topic of English and Engrish I want to mention how wonderful a job Hiromi Tsuru does with Madokas English. Madokas English is fairly accented but its not incomprehensible and she actually comes across like she really is bilingual just slightly accented and not used to speaking English but for more experienced with it then Kyosuke who is totally lost in the conversation. Its also extremely sexy lol. Speaking of Madoka the episode only gets better with some of the most intense action Ive seen in all of Kimagure Orange Road. Madkais at her absolute most badass in this particular episode and honestly my only complaint is imo this one shouldve been a full length film. Another important set of episodes are the ones featuring a popular male idol accidentally switching bodies with Kyosuke lol. The real highlight to this part though is Madoka having to sing in place of her cousins fiance Yukari for his band when she gets sick. Anyway thats pretty much all I have to say asidefrom GO WATCH THIS ANIME CLASSIC lol. Like I said at the beginning this review actually ended up being a whole lot shorter then my review for the TV anime. This is because I mainly wanted to skim over the ova and their importance to the series overall and how it leads towards the ultimate direction the narrative takes. There really is some important and irrevocable stuff in these episodes. White Lovers in particular feels like it is the begging of the end of the love triangle The events in the ova just lead Kyosuke Madoka and Hikaru closer to the events of the two films which I will also be reviewing shortly. Thank you for reading till the end ... now go watch Kimagure Orange Road I can guarantee you wont regret it.
