Ok Youre Baka Then In the past one or two years it seems that Comedy as its own genre has been getting a whole lot more attention than ever before At least from my experience dont take what Im saying for a cold hard fact. Comedy in the past few years had been sort of given the cold shoulder. It was that one seasoning you would spread on any kind of meal to make it more tasty but never was a meal meant to serve that seasoning ever really made. After all Shounen shines in its action and slice of life shines in its drama and lessons. Comedy can only be there to add a bit of fun every now and then but thats it.At least that was until Hinamatsuri came around. Hinamatsuri was at least in my opinion the first one in a while to have truly put Comedy as its main focus. Everything was there to make you laugh and other genres were only there to spice up the anime. And with the release of this anime followed more animes similar to this one. Of course Im talking about Asobi Asobase Chios School Road and now of course Joshikausei no Muduzakai. And oh dear was this latter one a genuine comedy if Ive ever seen one. This show was simply the story of a single class at a Girls only High School. You might be wondering Where does this get fun? How does this differ from your usual trend of the mill moe anime?. And see the thing is this is a full on parody of this moe genre. Every single character in the anime belongs to a stereotype and the anime is so blatantly obvious about it that it actually names the character after their personality Idiot type = Baka Loli type = Loli Emotionless type = Robo etc... But like I said this is a parody so konosubastyle the show just took every single personality and amplified them to the point where they got ridiculousBaka is way too much of a fucking idiot like its crazy and thats the major part of the anime laughing at this over the top anime girls. But would it only be this then it wouldnt have been as enjoyable as it was. The thing is just like any american sitcom youve probably watched this animes cast has great compatibility with each other. Usually you focus the cast around just a few characters maybe 3 to 5 that you have finely prepared to be somewhat funny when put together. But this show brings you a whole other level something Ive only seen in the manga Horimiya before. Any combination of the cast works. The base group is Baka Wota and Robo but you can easily have a LoliBaka duo that is just as funny or a MajoRoboWota or a MajimeBaka and all of them are incredibly funny. Of course each of them have their prime partners but theyre so amazingly compatible that anything just goes. Along with that this anime has some really good comedic ideas where you can sometimes spend a whole episode watching a fantasy without knowing it or some way over the top Im gonna fail my finals episode. If youre just looking for a pure comedy then this is definitely the anime to go to for now. Im just gonna add this part real fast to talk about a small point of the anime that Ive realized that adds yet another side to the anime. See when I went and saw the characters for the first time I directly thought This is absurdly over the top which is perfectly fine for a comedy anime. But as I was watching more and more of the anime this thought somehow vanished not because i was getting used to the characters and story but because some weird feeling about the anime crept up within me and that feeling was that the friendship and laughs shared by these extremely parodied girl felt way more real than any representation of friendships Ive seen in anime. When watching an anime focused on a group of friends such as Kimi to Boku while the characters are all quirky and such Joshikausei no Muduzakai made me realize that this cast felt too normal. For some reason midway through the anime the cast of JK felt a whole lot more real than other casts that try to be more realistic. The characters are fully true with themselves they do stupid stuff they hang out and try their best to have fun no matter how ridiculous the situation is theyre constantly laughing really loud making fun of each other helping each other out treating each other poorly despite being friends making any action taken or word spoken a way to start a joke and somehow this whole mess of a list just reminded me close to perfection how my IRL friendships are. There are no perfect friends in real life youre constantly poking fun at one another even if its about something personal. You dont speak of the world seriously or talk deeply about relationships with one another you instead scream at each other like the morons you are over futile matters only to crack out laughing real hard at one point where you cant keep up being serious about this argument. And however little or unintentional that little touch added to the anime was these somewhat real interactions struck me deep and engraved this anime in my mind. I dont really know wether this is because my friends are a bunch of crazy semipsycho drunkards but this really felt close to home and added some warmth to the anime which is why its score is pretty high. Final Thoughts This anime is an amazing comedy one of the few that has repeatedly made me laugh out loud. Be it its eccentric cast the goofy setups and episodes or just the simple school life theyre leading everything in it is to be loved in my opinion and will therefore be considered a real must watch in my book. Hope this helped and hope youll watch this anime
